Wedding Reception Floor Plans… Mix It Up!
A floor plan for your wedding reception is an essential step to achieving the look and feel that you desire. Most wedding reception venues provide the tables and chairs that you will utilize, so it is of utmost importance to see what types of tables/chairs they offer and also ask what they have for inventory of such items. Stereo typically, most venues offer round tables…..either 60 inches in diameter or 72 inches in diameter. The standard maximum set for 60 inch tables is 8 people, and if working with the 72 inch tables you can set up to 10 people per table and still have a comfortable amount of space for your guests. The round tables have always worked wonderfully, however wouldn’t it be fantastic if you could also have some options for table shapes? Especially since you are planning something as significant as your wedding reception, you want it to be personalized and memorable….so you and your guests can enjoy the celebration. Here at the Sioux Falls Convention Center, we have a number of options for the bride and groom to choose from in regards to tables. We offer the larger 72 inch round tables and can provide as many of them as you need, and in addition we also offer the ability to do square tables. The square tables add a modern twist to a wedding reception room setup, and they can also seat 8 or 10 people at each square. A majority of the wedding receptions that we host here (at the Sioux Falls Convention Center) take advantage of this amenity / option and go with alternating tables in the room – rounds and squares. To take it one step further, one of my personal favorites is to go with a larger variation of the square table…..we take two squares and push them together, to basically give you a longer shaped rectangle table (seating 16 to 20 people). This is a fabulous way to not only change up the whole look of the room, but also offer larger tables for families or groups of friends who are attending and all want to sit together but with most wedding reception setups, they are not able to fit at one table. Mixing it up with non-traditional patterns (setting the longer tables at an angle or alternating them horizontally and vertically) can add an even bigger punch!
