Is it a part of wedding etiquette to provide wedding favors for your guests? The answer is absolutely. Some couples choose to forego the favors, but if it is possible to work favors into the wedding reception budget…..it should be a priority. It can take time, however it is a simple way to show a token of thankfulness to all of your friends and family who traveled to be with you on your special day. Favors also present the opportunity to showcase your personality, while tying into the type of wedding reception you are creating.
Wedding favors can be most anything a person could imagine these days! Everything from casual wedding favors to elegant or modern items can be incorporated at the reception. If you want to keep it simple, baked goods or sweets are always go over well. Some of my personal preferences for baked goods as favors would be: cake pops (you can do a variety of flavors and a multitude of icing/frosting colors and bring some of your wedding colors into the mix…..or little bride and groom design cake pops are also a clever choice), selections of flavored popcorn in customized bags (cheese, caramel, or regular butter and you can even have some of the popcorn “colored” in your color scheme), fresh donuts at the end of the evening so your guests have a warm sweet treat on their way out, and little to-go bags with two fresh cookies and little cartons of milk are charming and scrumptious. Who doesn’t like a warm cookie and a little milk to dunk it in?!?
Wedding favors that are “friendly to our planet” are steadily rising in popularity with a strong percentage of the population focused on being green. Little plants, flowers, or seeds are a few options that come to mind. These options are wonderful as they are affordable and also bring people happiness….even serving as a continued reminder of the couple and their special day. I also feel the trend of giving a charitable donation as the wedding favor (the bride and groom give donations to a favorite charity in the name or names of wedding guests) is a virtuous and respected route to take for the favors. Many of the food options for favors that I mentioned above are items that we could help you with (here at the Sioux Falls Convention Center). If you are looking for a wedding reception venue that can not only cater an amazing personalized event, but also help you out with a fresh idea for wedding favors, please give me a call today and it would be my pleasure to assist you!
