Some of the Wedding Trends
As 2013 has quickly arrived, many newly engaged couples are ready to set their date and start planning for their 2013 wedding. While each couple usually goes into their wedding plans with some sort of idea of what they want, sometimes it can still be overwhelming making all of those decisions. Something that might help with some of your decisions would be to look at a couple of the latest trends flying through the wedding market for 2013.
One of the biggest trends is patterns: chevron, stripes, gingham, paisley, polka dots and floral are becoming very popular and help create a unique touch that can be incorporated throughout everything in your wedding. Anything that you plan to print (engagement photos, save the dates, invitations, bridal shower and bachelorette information, thank you’s, etc.) is a great way to create a theme. But, it doesn’t stop there! How cute would it be to have patterned ties or bow ties for the groomsmen or a sash/bow/hairpiece/shoe for your bridesmaids that were in a patterned form? You can also tie your pattern into both your ceremony and reception space with little touches here and there: patterned pew bows, table runners, sashes for your chairs, centerpiece designs, guest book, dinner menus, party favors, etc.
Another trend in weddings is taking advantage of all the technological advances that have been consuming our everyday lives. Websites are becoming a very popular way to post information about your big day for your guests to see. All of the information you need to get to your guests can be placed on your website to make it more convenient for them. You can place all of the information for your ceremony time and location, reception details, hotel block information and gift registries right on your website. Many people are even going as far as having their guests RSVP on their website. Taking the advances in technology to your reception is a huge trend as well—from all the cool things you can do with lighting to photo booths, it’s a great thing to take advantage of! Instead of the old disposable cameras at each dinner table for people to capture photos, an easier way to do it is to have people snap pictures on their smart phones and download them right to your website! Slideshows are also a huge trend and an easy thing to put together and have playing at your reception. Maybe you have a close relative that is oversees or who lives out of town and couldn’t make it—why not project a Skype session right onto one of the walls so he or she can “pop in” and say hi to you and all of your guests??
Here at the Sioux Falls Convention Center, we have the ability to help with some of these cool technology features that not every place can do! We also work with some of the best vendors in town who can help incorporate your trendy patterns through printed materials and decorations—we even offer packages that will give you discounts by working with them! So, stop by or give us a call today to book your trendy 2013 wedding!
