Choosing A Wedding Theme
Wedding planning can be a difficult process, not only because there are so many things to do but also because there are so many options out there for what you can do! A great way to start is by choosing a theme so all of the decisions you make throughout the planning process can be made based off of your theme. A really great trend that will always be unique in its own way is going vintage! It is also a great way to get some of your family members involved, because you can ask your parents and grandparents for ideas or old items they might have lying around for you to use. And if you are not super close with parents or grandparents of your better half yet, this is the perfect opportunity to seek advice from them and have them help get involved with the wedding. What parent, grandparent or great aunt and uncle does not have SOMETHING from their past that could not tie in with a vintage theme? It is a great way to save money and no one will ever be able to say they have the same centerpieces or decorations as you because they’ll always be one of a kind. If you go vintage, the possibilities are really endless. Think of all the different things you can do at your reception if you decorate with older items on the dinner tables and throughout the room. Whether you use an old suitcase, briefcase, musical instrument, book or tablecloth, it really does not matter because as long as it is old it will work! There is no need to have the same centerpiece on each table, so you can just use a variety of all the cool things you collect. And if you don’t have any friends or family members that have much, check out local flea markets, thrift stores or rummage sales and you are bound to find some very inexpensive items. The colors are also really easy to blend together—think lace or soft colors like ivory and pale pinks, tans, browns, grays, peaches or yellows. You could also bring in some older furniture to the reception and set up a little lounge area by the bar. How about have the servers and bartenders wear an old fashion bow tie or suspenders? Better yet, you could set up an old fashioned ice cream bar and have that be your dessert instead of wedding cake! Placing black and white photos around your reception room, some of you and maybe some older ones of your parents, grandparents and other family members, is another great idea to add that special touch. It is inexpensive and will always be unique to you. There are so many different things you can do to get creative when you go vintage, so please give us a call today at the Sioux Falls Convention Center and let us help create your vintage themed reception
