Bright Ideas on a Wedding Budget
Wondering how to create the ambiance you desire at your wedding reception while working with a budget? In my opinion, lighting is the answer to your question. Lighting can not only add a whole new dimension to the overall look and feel of your wedding reception but it can also provide added value within your budget! From gobos (the large monograms you see projected with light on walls or dance floors) to up-lighting, washes to pin-spotting lighting, can sound so intimidatingly expensive that you may not even consider it. But I am here to tell you, there are ways to accomplish your goals without breaking your checkbook. After all, the right lighting can totally transform a room’s atmosphere! Lighting can be both functional and dramatic. Here are some “Bright Ideas on a Budget.” A soft and subtle popular feature for those brides on a budget is to simply illuminate the perimeter of the room. Maybe add a splash of your wedding colors in the corners of the room. Lighting will add some detail without a large expense. Another popular lighting is called pin-lighting, where you light each individual table, which can certainly get spendy. Instead of lighting each individual table with a light try to use something both inexpensive and gorgeous like candles. At the Sioux Falls Convention Center we include a number of tea lights along with pillar candles and hurricane lamps in our “Silver Wedding Package” that will give you a similar look as pin lighting without the added expense to you. Candlelight will also serve a purpose and enable your guests to see each other across the table. Additionally, we have various heights of goblets available with the “Silver Wedding Package”; why not add water dyed your wedding colors and a floating LED light. Another option that has been done by brides at our venue is using paper lanterns and hang them from the ceiling at varying heights over your dance floor and dinner tables for a beautiful and stagy effect. Recently, we have added 6 gorgeous crystal chandeliers to our inventory for that over-the-top lighting effect that will not break your budget. Another new idea that we have been playing with at the Sioux Falls Convention Center is the idea of a project wall. Our couples have been using the bare walls to show a slide show of photos for years but we are in love with the idea of projecting a still scene of outdoor scape or maybe an artistic black and white silhouette of a chandelier. Think of this as more an artistic expression of you and your fiancé or creating a show stopping impression. Any and all of these “Bright Ideas on a Budget” are available to you when you chose the Sioux Falls Convention Center for your wedding reception.
